During high school I worked to earn money for college by baby-sitting and being
a nanny. I was fortunate to be able to participate in a class trip to Chile my
senior year of high school, where I was exposed to the living conditions of
remotely located native Chileans. This sparked my interest in world studies and
global health issues.
During college I worked as a research assistant for a major Seattle hospital
under the guidance of a research doctor. This was mostly an unpaid effort.

I am graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Neurobiology
and I am applying for medical school. I am taking one year off from studying to
work in a children's hospital in Cambodia as a volunteer. I am very committed
to helping children, particularly in under-developed areas of the world. I am
funding my entire trip and associated expenses for this volunteer activity. I
will return to the United States with zero funds.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me!

It is my intention to become a medical doctor. I intend to work in a rural,
under-served area of the United States and also, hopefully, will be able to use
my medical skills in a developing country, at least for several years.
